On March 12, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico City, Alejandra Frausto Guerrero, launched the Colibrí Viajero 2025 Program, aimed at promoting tourism as a human right. The program offers free trips to seniors to various tourist destinations near the capital. A first group of 270 seniors traveled to the port of Acapulco, where they will stay for three days and two nights.

Additionally, other smaller groups also traveled to different destinations. 36 people headed to Taxco in the state of Guerrero, while groups of 45 people visited Teotihuacán, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Morelos, and Puebla. Another group of 15 people took a trip to Querétaro.

Secretary Frausto Guerrero emphasized that tourism is a human right and that the purpose of the program is to encourage social participation through culture, recreation, and leisure, promoting equality among people and facilitating access to spaces of Tourism Heritage. The goal is to highlight history, culture, and traditions, promoting socialization through tourism, especially among vulnerable groups who might find it difficult to access these services on their own.

The Colibrí Viajero 2025 program this year uses 12 external transport units and 11 more for movements within and around the capital. The aim of the program is for participants to learn about cultural and natural heritage through free tourist tours, contributing to their education, physical and emotional well-being, as well as to rooting and a culture of peace.
